Landspitali University Hospital (LUH)

LandspitaliLandspitali University Hospital (LUH) - Iceland (http://www.landspitali.is ) is a governmental, non-profit University Hospital with around 800 hospital beds and over 4000 employees. The hospital has all main clinical subspecialties and serves the total population of 316.000. It is also the main teaching hospital with approximately 1000 students in training every year in collaboration with The University of Iceland and The University of Akureyri.

Incentive and contribution to the cluster: The LUH participates in the cluster to support and stimulate health sciences and the studies on nutrition to prevent disease. The scientific program at LUH has been rapidly increasing and the hospital’s scientists collaborate with 46 Icelandic research institutions and with over 70 research institutions in 20 other countries, mostly in North America and Europe. The hospital’s scientists now contribute to 30% of the total annual scientific publications from Iceland and to over 60% of all scientific publications from The University of Iceland. LUH contributes with clinical and non-clinical medical expertise and clinical setting as well as a good overview and global information on scientific activities within LUH.
